About Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Castro Valley ( belongs to a global network ( of 33,000+ local Clubs in 200+ countries that unites 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers to see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. The Rotary Club of Castro Valley has been serving this community since 1953.

The heart of Rotary is our members, dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship. Rotarians believe in and act upon the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.

The Rotary Club of Castro Valley annually sponsors many events to support the community and raise funds for community organizations, including:

  • The Chili Cook-off at Rowell Ranch
  • The Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade
  • A Texas Hold’em Tournament
  • An annual Christmas party for children living in homeless shelters
  • A backpack project to provide necessary school supplies to needy students
  • A booth at the Castro Valley Fall Festival​
  • A Literacy Project for pre-school students in the Castro Valley Unified School District​
  • Sponsorship for the Castro Valley Sports Foundation Hall of Fame Dinner, the Chamber of Commerce Student Citizen of the Year Lunch, and the Chamber of Commerce Eden Awards ​​
  • Student attendance (6) at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp​
  • Support for Rotary Interact Club for high school and middle school students​
  • $10,000 annually in college scholarships​

Major projects include:

  • Raising $425,000+ for an oxygen generator for Nejo Hospital in Ethiopia
  • Raising $10,000+ annually for the Rotary End Polio Now campaign
  • Renovation of the Adobe Center
  • Support for student directed gardens at Castro Valley High School and Proctor Elementary School​
  • Construction for the Castro Valley Center for the Arts
